I have decided to share my erotica monthly income reports with you guys.
I think it’ll help incentivze me to work harder. And I hope it’ll show you guys that self publishing is a great side hustle to pursue.
Okay, let’s get started!
October 2017 Income: $1,738
In October 2017, I made $1,738 writing Erotica on Amazon. That was up over 16% from September!
Part of the big spike was because of October 19th (as you can see on the chart). I had a record sale that day ($120 in royalties).
I gave out a few free promotions in my book and someone got hooked into my backmatter. On that day, I ended up selling over 45 books that day! Many of them were bundles too!
I released 12 books this month, which consisted of 8 single stories and 4 bundles. That was on par with September.
My books have gotten a little shorter. They averaged between 2,000 words and 2,500 words this month.
Lately, I’ve only been publishing about 2 books a week while I work on other side businesses. However, I find that 2 books a week is plenty to maintain (and grow) my erotica publishing business.
Sales by Region
In terms of earnings by region, the US came out as number one at 71.7%. The UK came in second at 15.8%. And Germany rounded up the top three at 5.1%.
The geographic breakdown is pretty normal. I rarely get any readers outside the US and UK. However, I’ve always been curious as to why my Australia and Canada sales aren’t higher.
Those countries speak English, so those sales should be much higher than places like Germany or France. But for some reason that’s not the case. Weird I guess, but I’m not complaining!
Other Observations
My book sales were pretty diversified. My best selling book that month (a bundle) accounted for ~6% of sales.
ALL of my top 5 books for the month were bundles. Bundles are a great way to make money and they have a much longer shelf life than single stories in my experience.
Overall, it was a pretty good month and I’m aiming to do even better in November. If the current sales growth holds up for the remainder of the month, I’m predicting a record month (knock on wood)!
Final Thoughts
All in all, I’m quite pleased with the significant passive income growth in October. I’m shooting for $1,900+ for November.
I don’t anticipate the holiday season impacting my business too much. And if I remember correctly, I had a great sales day over Thanksgiving/Black Friday in 2016.
